The War she wasn’t a part of

It all began on a calm note,
A sweet but a subtle one.
He sat there on the deserted battlefield,
Like a warrior who wasn’t defeated,
Rather was forced to accept defeat.
She found him in this miserable state,
And her mind couldn’t deny her heart’s decision to provide refuge to him.
She nursed him like a kind soul would,
Helped him to overcome his external damages,
And rebuild the inner pride he was robbed of.
Little did she know that the emptiness in him wasn’t due to the lost pride,
But because of his inability to hold on to his love.

Unaware of the fact, she helped in building him
Physically and emotionally.
The time she dedicated was priceless,
And she couldn’t resist herself from cruising towards him.
One fine day, she couldn’t find the warrior,
Neither in the woods nor in the fields.
Even though the warrior vanished from her sight,
She couldn’t erase him from her thoughts.
She spent several sleepless nights,
Hoping for him to come back,
Only to later hear of him successfully winning another battle,
And of him saving his ladylove.
She sat down heartbroken with a clueless mind,
With no desire to live more,
But for her good deeds,
Appeared a savior for her,
Who helped her rebuild and rediscover herself.
